Nuclear Pharmacy Jobs

Nuclear Pharmacy is a specialization of the regular pharmacy area, which is not currently being taken into account very much in the pharmacy career. However, as this branch of medicine continues to expand, many nuclear companies are investing in pharmacist’s education, training and refreshment courses in order to specialize and qualify them in the area of Nuclear Pharmacy.

Instead of providing regular medicines in hospitals or pharmacies, these professionals are qualified to provide radioactive materials destined to several medical procedures that can be related to diagnosis as well as to patients’ treatment.

So the main Nuclear Pharmacy Jobs consist of preparing and distributing radioactive drugs, known as ‘radiopharmaceuticals’, which implicates managing their delivery to hospitals and clinics, once the product is packaged and properly labeled. However, just as in the case of regular pharmacies, preparations are based on the prescriptions given to Nuclear Pharmacists. In addition, these professionals must also follow a safety program carefully and assume responsibility for its implementation and maintenance in order to keep up with the established legal regulations. Providing information about proper safety issues is also an essential part of the Nuclear Pharmacy Job.

In order to handle with the customer needs, - mainly health related institutions-, a Nuclear Pharmacy Job requests organization, a great deal of concentration abilities, as well as some rapport skills and computing notions. These personality features and abilities are particularly necessary in this specific area of Pharmaceutics, maybe at a greater extent than in a regular pharmacy job.

In terms of schedules, Nuclear Pharmacists usually have rotations that may vary from day shift to early morning shift. Some pharmacies also have rotating weekends, and need their staff to travel to other pharmacy branches in order to supplant other Pharmacists or attend to on call situations and emergencies.

To sum up, taking part in training and refreshing courses - usually provided by companies - may be another Nuclear pharmacy Job opportunity, as well as taking part in clinical trials, since this area is constantly developing. So Nuclear Pharmacists must be willing to keep up with the latest news and be able to continue developing new radiopharmaceuticals, which in fact allows them for growth in their profession.
