Finding and Keeping Jobs in Pharmacy

Unemployment is a serious problem in the competitive jobs in Pharmacy. At long last, you got a job as a Pharmacist. And now what? What can you do to keep it? An old Bible proverb says: "Have you beheld a man skilful in his work? Before kings is where he will station himself: he will not station himself before common men."

As stated by this wise proverb, skilful workers and professionals are really appreciated by most employers. What aspects of a professional's personality are most valued? Does having graduated as a Pharmacist ensure that you will get and keep a good job?

Do refreshing courses at least twice a year.
The technological improvements achieved in recent years account for new discoveries and better knowledge in a variety of fields, and the Clinical Pharmacy Career is not an exception. Get acquainted with what is happening in your professional area by subscribing to serious Pharmacy newsletters, and by attending conventions, courses or seminars.

Be honest
A survey conducted in more than four hundred companies revealed that for most entrepreneurs "honesty and loyalty are one of the strongest points of job applicants". It is obvious that being honest implies not stealing money, materials or utensils, but it also implies not stealing time. Certain study conducted by a job agency showed that the average amount of stolen time was four hours and a half per week, per employee. Those "robbers", among other things, usually arrive late, leave before time, and spend long minutes talking with their co-workers or over the phone along a working day. Also remember that not paying attention at work meetings, apart from showing how disrespectful you can be, it may cost your job as a Pharmacist!

Watch your work habits
According to a report by the Washington Post, loud phone conversations, the use of speakerphones and constant complaints about workload top the list of co-workers' most annoying work habits. Such bad habits damage both your reputation and the team's work productivity.

Get Down to Earth - Be realist
Instability and unemployment, as a result of social and economical problems, are spreading at a steady pace all over the world. Although a professional may strive to avoid being dismissed, he may lose his job as a Pharmacist anyway. However, applying these principles will allow for peace of mind and for a good attitude. That will certainly be really helpful to find a new job in the Clinical Pharmacy Career – or any other specialisation - in the relatively short term.
