Looking for a job as a Pharmacist?
Looking for a job is always an uncertain process. Especially, if the job positions expected are as professional as Pharmacy jobs. There are many aspects implied, for example the fact that the prospect’s qualifications and experience may no reach to the high company's standards.
Some effective tips will help the applicant to get ready for an interview, and make a good impression:
- Collect as much information as possible about the company that is about to hire you. Being well informed on the organisation’s profile, the jobs in Pharmacy available and other activities will make a good impression. It will also help you decide whether the Pharmacy jobs offered are suitable for you, or whether it is really the type of company you would like to work for.
- Think in advance how you will dress up. Wear neat and clean clothes. A suit and tie is always advisable. That will tell the interviewer that you care for yourself, and that you will certainly take the job seriously. Try to look smart but modest. Preparing the outfit you will wear in the interview will save you time and unnecessary stress.
- Arrive at the venue fifteen minutes before the appointed time - don't arrive too early. According to experts, the first three seconds of a job interview are essential, since the employer gets a first impression of you based on your appearance and behaviour. Being late would make a bad impression that that the interviewer would hardly forget.
- Remember the interviewer is NOT an enemy. After all, he must have gone through the same experience when he/she was hired by the company, so he/she knows how you are feeling. The interviewer may be uneasy as well, as most employees have not been trained to hire personnel at all. Moreover, if the interviewer is the owner of the Pharmacy or a Hospital Director, he/she may have a lot to lose if wrong Pharmacist is hired!
- To start with, smile and shake hands firmly. Focus on the company needs. Think how you can suit them. Don’t behave in an informal way or talk too much. Needless to say that using bad language will cause a very bad impression. Don't make negative comments about your previous employers and co-workers. Your interviewer may think that you will do the same if you are hired.
- Keep eye contact with your interviewer and articulate your speech as much as you can. Relax and tell the interviewer briefly about your achievements in previous jobs in Pharmacy.
- Answer the employer's questions short and to the point, and be sincere. Don't hesitate to ask relevant questions about the company or your specific job as a Pharmacist. Your intelligent questions will show the interviewer how interested you are.
- By the end of the interview, if you are still interested on the position, ask for it politely. That will also contribute to show your interest.
